The June meeting was a planned Sew Day featuring a presentation from Faye Jones on Curved Piecing techniques. Diana Pickens coordinated the day, and shared an alternate way to put together curves.
Thirty One (31) members signed in during the day, which was an outstanding turnout for our first Sew Day. Since there was not a business meeting, these minutes will reflect announcements and events discussed during Show and Share, but will document that no official guild business was presented.

Special Presntation In October:
At our October 3rd meeting (which will be our next Sew Day) we will be a privileged audience to here an early presentation from Cheryl Brickey of her planned lecture at QuiltCon next year. Mark your
calendars now to learn about how designs and other creations are protected legally.
Cheryl Brickey will present:
Stitching Smart: Intellectual Property Basics for Quilters
Description: Quilters are constantly creating patterns, designs, techniques, and tools but many aren’t sure how (or if) their work can be protected. This lecture provides a clear, approachable overview of
intellectual property as it applies specifically to the quilting world. Attendees will learn the differences between copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and know-how, along when and how each
type of protection may apply. Real-world examples from the quilting and textile industries will illustrate how intellectual property impacts quilt patterns, block designs, surface design, techniques and notions. This session is designed to demystify complex legal concepts and empower quilters to make informed decisions about protecting their creative work without overwhelm or legal jargon.
Please refer to the Bullet Point Blast sent earlier this month for upcoming events in the area.
