Meeting Date: September 12, 2026
The September meeting was called to order by Dawn Bianco with a welcome to all. Dawn asked for a motion to approve the September minutes, and the motion was seconded for approval.
General Announcements:
- Reminder from last month’s notes for October: Faye Jones shared 3 samples of her art work, and details of a sale she will have at the October 3rd meeting. (Although this is a sew day, the art will be offered at the business meeting which will begin at 1 p.m.). Numbers will be given to those in attendance who are interested in obtaining one of Faye’s works. Shoppers will be called in numerical order to choose one piece. Faye is asking that those who choose a piece send a check to one of our local food banks to help with feeding our community. There is no minimum or maximum, and Faye doesn’t need to know how much is sent, but she asks that you honor her request if you take a piece home to enjoy.
- Quilters of South Carolina retreat is being held October 22 – 25. Sign up for this ends on September 24. Bring your own project, or sign up for classes offered. See www.quiltersofsc.org for more details.
- A reminder that our October Sew Day is on the same day as the Fountain Inn Busy Bee’s quilt show. They open on Friday, and are also open on Sunday so please support them then if you can. Details of the show are here: https://www.busybeesquiltguildsc.com/events
- Christmas Luncheon: There will be boxes at each meeting to collect donations for the auction. At the October Sew Day you can drop off donations all day. There will also be a sign up sheet for Soup, Salad, Bread and Dessert. The luncheon will be held on December 5 from Noon until 3 pm. Remember that all funds raised go directly to our programs budget. - The Nominating Committee is presenting a slate of officers to be voted on at the October meeting. Those are:
- Pat Merkle – President
- Madison Moyer – Vice President / Programs
- Mitzi Vanderschaaf – Secretary
- Denise Glaser – Treasurer
- The revised ByLaws and Guidelines have been sent to the membership for review. These documents will also be voted on at the October meeting. Because that meeting is a sew day, the business meeting will take place at 1:00 pm, and the vote will be at the top of the agenda.

- Programs:
- October’s meeting is a planned Sew Day. The doors will open at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m. Cheryl Brickey will present a preview of her Quilt Con lecture, and our business meeting will begin at 1:00 pm and will include the previous mentioned vote. Please join us to participate in the vote for officers, and the vote for new bylaws. The theme of sew day will be Made Fabric, or sewing together your scraps to make “new” fabric pieces.
- November’s meeting will be presented by Christine Todesko, artist, architect, and quilter.
